Public Displays
Despite the close proximity of Clydebank Shopping Centre, and "Asda", Dumbarton, we do not display at either of those locations.
Please be aware. To enable us to participate in public displays and events, we MUST comply with the following legal requirements.
1. Hold a current Zoo Licence.
2. Hold both Public and Employee Liability Insurance, (PLI of £2,000,000 min.)
3. Meet the guidelines for transportation and display of birds as laid down by the Hawk Board.
4. Hold an "Animal Transportation Authorisation", issued by the "Animal Welfare" department of "Animal Health" (DEFRA).
5. Hold an "Animal Transportation Certificate", for each and every display.
We attend many organised events. Gala Days, Highland Games, Fund Raising Events, or just to provide an attraction for children during school holidays. At those events, our objective is to provide education to the public. Answering questions, giving information on species, advice on conservation, highlighting examples of wildlife crime, and providing the public an opportunity to view national Birds of Prey at close range.
We put the welfare of our birds before all else. We ensure we follow the guidelines laid down by the "Hawk Board" regarding the maximum number of birds transported for display, the area required, perching, bathing and shelter. The birds on display are selected for their temperament and approachability, this ensures they remain calm at all times, and the public, young children in particular, gain more from the experience. Our display is completely self-contained. We provide barriers, notice boards, safety notices, water and shelter. Our barriers ensure that small children and dogs cannot intrude into the display area. Where flying displays form part of the event, we ensure only birds with suitable training are flown.
